Aftercare — Ceramic Guard

A Hard Coat Over
Corrected Paint

Ceramic Guard is a protective layer applied on top of paintwork we have already machine polished and corrected. It is not a wax and it is not a sealant — once cured it forms a hard, slick surface that takes the day-to-day abuse instead of the lacquer underneath.

We Will Not Coat Paint That Is Not Right

The coating is optically clear. Whatever is in the paint when it goes on is what you look at for years afterwards — applying it over uncorrected paint just seals the swirls in.

That is why we will not do Ceramic Guard as a standalone add-on without the correction first. The car is washed, decontaminated and clayed, then machine polished to lift swirl marks and correct the finish. Only once the paint is right does the coating go on. The correction happens in the same in-house bay as our detailing work.

What it does

The Coating Takes The Abuse

Once cured, the hard surface sits between the world and your lacquer.

01

Stays Cleaner

Water, road salt and traffic film sit on the surface rather than bonding to it, so the car stays cleaner between washes.

Between washes

02

Etch Resistance

Far better resistance to bird lime, tree sap and fuel spillage — all of which etch unprotected lacquer quickly.

03

UV Protection

UV protection — which is what stops reds and dark blues going flat over a few summers.

Holds the colour

04

Deeper Finish

The coating is optically clear and sits over corrected paint, which is what gives the deeper, wetter-looking finish.

On The Day —
And Every Day After

What happens on the day

  • 01

    Wash, Decontaminate, Clay

Everything bonded to the paint comes off before any machine goes near it.

  • 02

    Machine Polish & Correct

Swirl marks are lifted and the finish corrected. Only once the paint is right does the coating go on.

  • 03

    The Coating Goes On

Applied over the corrected paint, where it cures into a hard, slick surface.

  • 04

    Curing Time

The coating needs time to cure. We will tell you how long to keep the car dry before you use it normally.

Looking after it

  • Maintenance Washing Only

Gentle, correct washing keeps the coating doing its job — we will talk you through it at handover.

  • No Automatic Car Washes

A coated car never goes through one — hand maintenance washing only.

  • Bring It Back To Us

You are welcome to bring the car back to us for washing.

Cost depends on the size of the car and the condition of the paint, so we quote per vehicle after looking at it. If you bought the car from us it may already be included — ask before you book.
